My purpose in sharing Grandpa Joe is to let you know that Trucking is in our DNA! It's a legacy that was started by him and was carried on by his son, Phil and his wife Rita and continues to this day with Phil's children, Pat, Mike and JoAnne, all owners who are active in running the day to day operations.
My Dad, brother and I all drove ourselves before moving into full time management positions in the company. We know what it's like to be out on the road, we ourselves delivered to many of the same places that we still go today. This experience has given us the unique ability that many other companies these days do not have, to run Smith Trucking from a Truck Drivers point of view.

Kenworth T680's: We operate fully loaded Manual 13 speed and Automatic Kenworth T680's. With leather swivel seats, double bunk, refrigerators, APU's, smart TV's, CB's and more!
Freightliner Cascadia's : My brother Pat spends hours specking out our trucks just like and owner operator would for our drivers. These are all fully loaded just like our Kenworth's and in 13 speed Manual and Automatic.
Highly Competitive Pay
Experienced Drivers with a minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience
Up to .60 cents per mile on the base pay
Quarterly Safety Bonus
Clean Inspection Bonus
Drivers will be paid an additional .02 cents per mile that will be paid quarterly. (We have a spreadsheet which we will provide to go by)
$75.00 Bonus for all clean inspections
Stops 2-4: $20
Stops 2-4: $20
Detention pay of $25.00 per hour (Starts One hour after your scheduled appointment if you are on time for your appt). Limit of $200.00 per day. These are for outbound main customers; all backhauls will be looked at on an individual basis.
Layover pay of up to $200.00 per day. (does not apply if driver is out of hours to drive)
Additional .04/mile on top of base pay for loads originating from the MN-IA area going to the northeast (New England) area.
Drivers taking outbound meat loads out Worthington that deliver in the Chicago (or greater Chicago) area will receive an addition al .05 per mile for all miles (out and back) for that trip.
Smith Trucking reimburses for all lumpers with a valid receipts.
95% no touch freight!
Unloading done by the driver will be paid at $20.00 per hour and verified by Peoplenet and Fleet Manager.
1-week paid vacation after 1 year and at least 120,000 miles
2 weeks paid vacation after 2 years with at least 120,000 miles
Longevity Bonuses paid at the end of the year
